Vegetable Sambar
Ingredients
- • 1/2 cup Toor Dal
- • 1 cup chopped mixed vegetables (carrot, drumstick, beans)
- • 1 tbsp Sambar powder
- • 1/4 tsp Turmeric powder
- • 1/2 tsp Mustard seeds
- • 1 sprig Curry leaves
- • 1 small lemon-sized ball of Tamarind soaked in 100ml water
- • 1 tbsp Oil
Cooking Steps

Pressure cook dal with turmeric and 1.5 cups water for 3 whistles.

In the pressure cooker, heat oil, add mustard seeds and curry leaves.

Add vegetables and sauté for 2 minutes.

Pour in tamarind water, sambar powder, and cooked dal.

Pressure cook for 1 additional whistle and release steam.

Potato Poriyal (Dry Stir-fry)
Ingredients
- • 2 large Potatoes (cubed)
- • 1/2 tsp Mustard seeds
- • 1/2 tsp Urad dal
- • 1/4 tsp Red chili powder
- • 1 tbsp Oil
Cooking Steps

Microwave cubed potatoes with a splash of water for 5 minutes until tender.

Heat oil in a pan, add mustard seeds and urad dal.

Add the microwave-steamed potatoes, red chili powder, and salt.

Toss on high heat for 3 minutes until slightly crisp.
