Ingredients
- • 1 cup boiled chickpeas (garbanzo beans)
- • 1 medium onion, finely chopped
- • 2 medium tomatoes, pureed
- • 1 tbsp ginger-garlic paste
- • 1 tsp cumin seeds
- • 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
- • 1 tsp coriander powder
- • 1/2 tsp red chili powder (adjust to taste)
- • 1/4 tsp garam masala
- • 1 tsp tamarind paste
- • 2 tbsp vegetable oil
- • Salt to taste
- • Fresh cilantro for garnish
Cooking Steps

Heat vegetable oil in a pressure cooker over medium heat.

Add cumin seeds and let them splutter.

Add chopped onions and sauté until golden brown.

Stir in ginger-garlic paste and cook for a minute until fragrant.

Add tomato puree, turmeric powder, coriander powder, and red chili powder. Cook until the oil separates from the masala.

Add boiled chickpeas, tamarind paste, and salt. Mix well.

Add about 1/2 cup of water and pressure cook for 2 whistles.

Let the pressure release naturally. Garnish with fresh cilantro and garam masala.

- • 1 cup plain yogurt
- • 1/4 cup finely chopped cucumber
- • 1/4 tsp roasted cumin powder
- • Pinch of salt
- • Pinch of black pepper
