Tamil-style Sambar
Ingredients
- • 100g Toor dal
- • 150g Mixed vegetables (drumstick, carrot, radish)
- • 20g Tamarind pulp
- • 1 tbsp Sambar powder
- • 0.5 tsp Turmeric powder
- • 1 tsp Mustard seeds
- • 5g Curry leaves
- • 500ml Water
Cooking Steps

Pressure cook the toor dal with 300ml water and turmeric until soft.

In a separate pot, boil vegetables with 200ml water and tamarind pulp until tender.

Add cooked dal and sambar powder to the vegetables and simmer for 5 minutes.

Temper mustard seeds and curry leaves in oil/ghee and add to the sambar.

Coconut Dry Bean Poriyal
Ingredients
- • 200g Green beans, chopped
- • 50g Freshly grated coconut
- • 1 tsp Urad dal
- • 1 tsp Mustard seeds
- • 2 Dried red chilies
- • 10ml Coconut oil
Cooking Steps

Heat oil in a pan, add mustard seeds, urad dal, and red chilies.

Add chopped beans and a splash of water; cover and cook for 7 minutes.

Stir in the grated coconut and sauté for 2 minutes before serving.
