Mavinkayi Palya (Raw Mango Curry)

Ingredients

  • 250 g raw mango (peeled and grated)
  • 2 tbsp coconut oil
  • 1 tsp mustard seeds
  • 0.5 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp red chili powder
  • 100 ml water
  • 50 g grated coconut

Cooking Steps

Heat oil in a pressure cooker, add mustard seeds to crackle.

Add grated mango, turmeric, and chili powder.

Add water and cook for 1 whistle.

Stir in grated coconut and adjust salt before serving.

The Perfect Pairing

Hesarubele Kosambari (Moong Dal Salad)

Ingredients

  • 200 g yellow moong dal (soaked)
  • 1 small cucumber (diced)
  • 2 tbsp cilantro
  • 1 tsp lemon juice
  • 1 green chili
  • 1 tsp mustard seeds

Cooking Steps

Soak moong dal for 20 mins, then drain.

Mix soaked dal with diced cucumber, chili, and cilantro.

Prepare tempering with oil and mustard seeds, pour over salad.
