Maharashtrian Masale Bhaat

Ingredients

  • 200 g Basmati rice
  • 50 g finely chopped carrots
  • 50 g green peas
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1 tbsp ghee
  • 1/2 tsp cumin seeds

Cooking Steps

Wash rice and drain thoroughly.

Heat ghee in a pressure cooker, add cumin seeds.

Add vegetables and turmeric, sauté for 2 minutes.

Add rice and 400 ml water, cook for 2 whistles on medium flame.

Ingredients

  • 250 g boneless chicken cubes
  • 1 tbsp coriander leaves paste
  • 1/2 tsp ginger-garlic paste
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1/2 tsp cumin powder
  • 1 tbsp oil

Cooking Steps

Marinate chicken with all ingredients for 5 minutes.

Heat oil in a pan, add chicken.

Cover and cook on low heat for 8 minutes until tender.

Remove lid, sauté for 2 minutes on high heat to ensure a dry finish.
