Kerala Style Coconut Aval (Flattened Rice) Upma
Ingredients
- • 150 g thin flattened rice (poha)
- • 50 g fresh grated coconut
- • 2 g mustard seeds
- • 5 ml coconut oil
- • 1 tsp salt
Cooking Steps

Quickly rinse flattened rice in a sieve.

Heat oil in pan, add mustard seeds until spluttering.

Add coconut and salt, stir for one minute.

Toss in flattened rice, mix well, and remove from heat.

Ingredients
- • 100 g soaked and blended split yellow moong dal
- • 50 g finely chopped carrots
- • 1 tsp salt
- • 10 ml sunflower oil
Cooking Steps

Blend soaked dal into a thick, coarse paste.
