Kerala Kadala Curry

Ingredients

  • 250 g Black Chickpeas (soaked)
  • 100 ml Coconut Milk
  • 1 tbsp Coconut Oil
  • 1 tsp Mustard Seeds
  • 1 sprig Curry Leaves
  • 1 tsp Turmeric Powder
  • 1 tbsp Coriander Powder
  • 1 tsp Red Chili Powder
  • 50 g Onion
  • 20 g Ginger-Garlic paste

Cooking Steps

Pressure cook soaked chickpeas with water and salt for 4 whistles.

In a blender, pulse onion, ginger, and garlic into a paste.

Heat oil in a pan, add mustard seeds and curry leaves.

Add onion paste and sauté until golden.

Add turmeric, chili powder, and coriander powder. Sauté for 1 minute.

Mix in the cooked chickpeas with their water and simmer for 5 minutes.

Stir in coconut milk, boil for 2 minutes, and serve.
