Karnataka Style Mango-Spiced Lentil Dal (Mavinkayi Pappu)
Ingredients
- • 100 g Toor dal
- • 100 g Raw mango (peeled and cubed)
- • 0.5 tsp Turmeric powder
- • 1 tsp Mustard seeds
- • 2 Dry red chilies
- • 500 ml Water
Cooking Steps

Pressure cook dal with water and turmeric for 3 whistles.

Add mango cubes to cooked dal and simmer for 5 minutes.

Temper mustard seeds and red chilies in a pan, pour over dal.

Ingredients
- • 250 g Mutton (boneless cubes)
- • 1 tbsp Black peppercorns
- • 1 tsp Fennel seeds
- • 0.5 tsp Garam masala
- • 1 tbsp Curry leaves
Cooking Steps

Dry roast and blend peppercorns and fennel seeds into a coarse powder.

Pressure cook mutton with salt until tender.

In a hot pan, sear mutton with spice powder and curry leaves until coated and fragrant.
