Andhra Style Tomato Pappu (Dal)

Ingredients

  • 100 g Toor Dal
  • 200 g Tomatoes chopped
  • 2 tsp Tamarind paste
  • 1 tsp Mustard seeds
  • 1/2 tsp Turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp Red chili powder
  • 15 ml Oil

Cooking Steps

Wash dal and pressure cook with tomatoes, turmeric, and 300ml water for 3 whistles.

Mash the dal mixture until smooth.

In a separate pan, heat oil, add mustard seeds and spices.

Pour the tempering into the dal and stir in tamarind paste, simmer for 5 minutes.

Spiced Coconut-Roasted Potato Fry

Ingredients

  • 300 g Potatoes cubed
  • 50 g Grated coconut
  • 1 tsp Cumin seeds
  • 1 tsp Coriander powder
  • 1 tsp Red chili powder
  • 20 ml Coconut oil

Cooking Steps

Boil potatoes until semi-soft using the pressure cooker (1 whistle).

Heat coconut oil in a pan, add cumin seeds.

Add potatoes and fry until edges are golden.

Add dry spices and grated coconut, sauté for another 5 minutes until crispy.
